Summary

The AES Corporation (AES) is a Fortune 500 company that generates and distributes electrical power. Operating in 15 countries, AES is headquartered in Arlington, Virginia, and its stock is traded on the NYSE.

According to its August 6, 2004 10-Q filing, AES disclosed that the DOJ was conducting an investigation into allegations that persons and/or entities involved with the Bujagali hydroelectric power project, which AES was constructing and developing in Uganda, made, or agreed to make, certain improper payments in violation of the FCPA. AES conducted its own internal investigation and cooperated with the DOJ in the investigation.

AES terminated the Bujagali project in question, according to its March 30, 2005 10-K filing, and there is no further disclosure regarding the investigation.
