Summary

Owens-Illinois, Inc. (O-I) is an American Fortune 500 company that specializes in container glass products. Approximately one of every two glass containers made worldwide is made by O-I. Its stock is traded on the NYSE.

According to its SEC filings, O-I conducted an internal investigation into conduct in certain of its overseas operations that may have violated the anti-bribery provisions of the FCPA, the FCPA’s books and records and internal controls provisions, the company’s own internal policies, and various local laws. In October 2012, O-I voluntarily disclosed these matters to the DOJ and SEC.

As disclosed in its July 28, 2016 10-Q, O-I received correspondence from the DOJ and SEC indicating that neither agency intended to take any enforcement action and both have closed their inquiries into the matter.
