Summary  Information

Charles Quintard Beech III, a U.S citizen and resident of Texas, controlled a number of closely held companies with other people. These companies were primarily used to secure contracts with Petroleos de Venezuela S.A. ("PDVSA"), the Venezuelan state-owned and state-controlled oil company.

Between 2011 and 2012, Beech engaged in a conspiracy with others, including defendants in related actions, to pay bribes to officials at PDVSA to obtain business for his and other's companies.

On January 4, 2017, the DOJ filed a single count Information in the Southern District of Texas against Beech alleging conspiracy to violate the anti-bribery provisions of the FCPA. According to a DOJ press release, Beech pled guilty on January 10, 2017. On July 9, 2021, the court sentenced Beech to 12 months and one day in prison to be followed by two years of supervised release and ordered him to pay forfeiture of $833,452, a criminal fine of $10,000, and a mandatory assessment of $100.
